What’s New August 2007

This page lists changes to this site for August 2007.

An index called the Responsible Competitiveness Index attempts to rank most countries according to how responsible their business practices are. As expected, advanced economies rank highest (Nordic countries are at the very top). Corporate Social Responsibility is a bit of a buzz word and some feel that it has been diluted from its original aims, while others are trying to find innovative ways to engage with businesses to be more responsible in their practices

The war on terror section was updated to include a few more articles, covering issues such as Bush’s torture ban, imprisonment of journalists, public relations for dictators, and more.

This web site has continued to grow. From July 2006 to end of June 2007, there were almost 14 million page views to the site (up from about 11 million the previous year). During peak periods of the year, the site was getting, on average, some 50-60,000 page views per day. This site remains a spare time effort, on my own, with no sponsorship or advertising. At the beginning of this year I started to request donations, but have tried to make it low key. As with previous years, I am finding even less time this year to spend on the site, but I am pleasantly surprised at its repeated growth. Thank you so much for your continued support and please do tell your friends and colleagues about the global issues web site if you find it useful.
